As market leader in the tobacco detection and control market, the company devised the very first tobacco smoke detector back in 1998. Spotting a gap in the market, the company was originally set up by Brent Dunleavey to research the possibility of detecting low levels of cigarette smoke with existing, commercially available sensing technology.
The result was the world’s first commercially viable system to detect cigarette smoke and make no smoking policies and smoke free buildings a reality. Named and later trademarked ‘Cig-Arrete,’ the system attracted international media coverage hailing the unique nature of the product and its potential applications in the healthcare and education sectors and in workplaces globally.
This overwhelming PR was quickly turned in to sales, with the company showing healthy trading profits in the first year. The initial product was battery/mains operated and enabled the coverage of areas such as small offices and toilet blocks, with the ability to monitor these sensitive areas from a remote location. This eliminated the need for staff to periodically check areas where illicit smoking occurred.
Innovation is at the heart of the company and as a result we are continually enhancing our existing products and developing new ones. In addition to investing heavily in product development, Radal Technology Ltd has sought to protect the marketing brand associated with such a unique product range. The company has acquired international trademarks for the Cig-Arrete logo and brand name in the U.K with the UK patent office, federal trademarks across the USA and more recently across Europe.
The company is building on its position as market leader in the U.K by expanding overseas. We currently distribute to over 25 countries and are enjoying being able to service key growth markets which at this time are North America and Europe.
Fire Alarm Systems
The company has access to all the major manufacturers of fire alarm products. It is only by utilising the expertise that the company has amassed over the years that we can consider the type of application, the premises and the user requirements before we can recommend particular products to installers. The recommendations that we make ensure that the installer has full confidence in and is aware of the benefits of installing the range of equipment. This is particularly important when products are recommended that provide hidden benefits - for example a major cost reduction in installation time or cabling requirements.
With legislation now requiring that certification is provided from design, through installation and onto commissioning and maintenance, Radal Technology have the experience, the technical ability and the product range to ensure that the consultant, installer and end client have the right products to ensure many years of problem free service from their fire alarm system.
