The world's first ever tobacco smoke detection system was launched way back in 1998 by Radal Technology Ltd under the registered trademark of Cig-Arrête. The team at Radal Technology developed the Cig-Arrête product range with the aim of assisting schools and colleges to eliminate tobacco smoking from school washrooms and toilet blocks.

The Cig-Arrête product range instantly found favour with school principals, headteachers and more importantly the pupils themselves, which led to a massive uptake in product installations in over 4,000 schools across the UK and Ireland.

Due to the publicity in the media surrounding the impact of the Cig-Arrête products, other facilities such as hospitals, offices and factories purchased and installed the Cig-Arrête system - not just in our home market but also in many areas overseas.

Today, the Cig-Arrête products are shipped to around 35 countries worldwide, supported by a team of long standing distributor partners who provide local support and sales in various countries.

In 2024, as a result of customer requests, Radal Technology Ltd are adding Vape Detection products to the highly successful Cig-Arrête SD Evolution range. In addition to detecting vape aerosols, the products combine flame detection, tobacco smoke detection, TVOC counts and CO2 concentrations, all packaged with multi-lingual voice messaging.
